    Tourism Minister, Hon. Edmund Bartlett, says the generation of ideas is key to driving continuous changes that facilitate the constant emergence of innovations in the local hospitality industry.

    “Ideas are what drive tourism. Tourism doesn’t happen with repeating business activities on a daily basis; [it] grows because there are changes. [Where] there is innovation, there is value added,” Mr. Bartlett noted.

    He was speaking during the Jamaica Centre for Tourism Innovation (JCTI) Career Expo 2024 at the Montego Bay Convention Centre in Rose Hall, St. James, on March 15.

    Health and Wellness the Future of Jamaica’s Growing Tourism Industry

    Appearing virtually at the 5th staging of the Jamaica Health and Wellness Tourism Conference at the Montego Bay Convention Centre on November 16, 2023, Minister of Tourism, Hon. Edmund Bartlett, said developing the health and wellness subsector was among the ministry’s growth strategy goals, “offering visitors an unmatched value proposition, based on innovation, diversification, and differentiation of our tourism product.”

    Inaugural Awards to Recognise Excellence in Health and Wellness Tourism

    Several health and wellness providers in the hospitality sector will be recognised for their contribution at the inaugural Awards Ceremony at the Montego Bay Convention Centre in St. James on Thursday (November 16).

    The ceremony, an added feature of this year’s staging of the fifth annual Jamaica Health and Wellness Tourism Conference, will take place on day one of the two-day event, which concludes on Friday, November 17.

    Several new and innovative ideas are expected to be generated within tourism, through the recently launched Tourism Innovation Incubator.

    Speaking at the launch, held during Tourism Awareness Week on September 30, Portfolio Minister, Hon. Edmund Bartlett, said that tourism is about ideas and creating experiences.

    “The idea of this Incubator is to create a framework to mine, hone, convert, and monetize ideas,” Minister Bartlett said.

    Tourism Linkages Network to host major Spa Standards Workshop — Bartlett

    KINGSTON, Jamaica — The Tourism Linkages Network will be hosting a free two-day Spa Standards Workshop, beginning next Monday, November 16, as part of efforts to encourage the adoption of national and international standards by spas across the island.

    According to the Ministry of Tourism, the workshop will seek to sensitize the industry about the Linkages Network’s newly developed COVID-19 Safety Manual for Jamaican Spas, which is the first of its kind in the region.

    MONTEGO BAY, St James — Chairman of the Health and Wellness Linkages Network Kyle Mais has made a plea for Jamaican business interests to make use of the opportunities to get a slice of the US$1-trillion global health and wellness market.

    Jamaica, he said, “has such amazing resources to provide these experiences”.

    Gov’t Pumping $66 Million Into Health And Wellness Tourism

    The Ministry of Tourism will be spending $66 million over the next three years to strengthen and expand Health and Wellness Tourism in Jamaica.

    Portfolio Minister, Hon. Edmund Bartlett, in making the announcement, said that health and wellness tourism is a growing market internationally and Jamaica is uniquely poised to capitalise on the industry.

    He said research has shown that health tourism represents one of the fastest growing travel segments, with a 12 per cent expansion each year, and Jamaica has much to contribute to all facets of that sector.

    Jamaica Poised to Generate Record Tourism Earnings of US$5 Billion in 2023

    Jamaica is poised to generate a projected US$5 billion in earnings from tourism for the 2023 calendar year, based on the current trend in the industry’s out-turns, according to Portfolio Minister, Hon. Edmund Bartlett.

    He says the country is also expected to welcome five million visitors in 2024, one year ahead of the initial target timeline.

    The Minister was addressing day two of the Jamaica Customer Service Association’s (JCSA) National Customer Service Week (NCSW) and Service Excellence virtual conference on Wednesday (October 5).

    Jamaica tourism to collaborate on mental health resilience

    Jamaica’s Minister of Tourism, Honourable Edmund Bartlett has announced that his Ministry and the Ministry of Health and Wellness will begin to collaborate in the area of mental health resilience.     Health And Wellness Tourism Conference Begins Wednesday

    The second annual Jamaica Health and Wellness Tourism Conference gets under way on Wednesday (November 18) at the Montego Bay Convention Centre in St. James, beginning at 9:00 a.m.

    The two-day event, being organised by the Tourism Linkages Network under the theme ‘Reimagine, Reset, Restore’, will also be live-streamed on YouTube and Facebook @tefjamaica.

    Minister of Tourism, Hon. Edmund Bartlett, will deliver the keynote address at the opening.
